Ciment Fondu® mortars & concretes exhibit superior performance against chemical and bacterial corrosion (pH4), compared to Portland based concretes.
Ciment Fondu® is not acid proof, i.e. impervious to acid attack, but withstands them far better than Portland cement based concretes.
Applications
- Sewer networks
- Marine environments
- Agricultural buildings
- Food processing industries

Guidelines
- Use a clean concrete-mixer
- Use clean drinking water
- Do not exceed 0.40 water/cement ratio, i.e. 10 litres water for 25 kg of Ciment Fondu®
- Never add water during concreting
Where acidic environments (pH3.5) and abrasion both occur, the use of synthetic Alag® aggregate is recommended.

Direction for use
PREPARATION
All formwork should be watertight clean and coated with mould oil. To provide a good key for bonding, the base concrete should be free of laitance and soaked with water.
MIXING
Mix cement and aggregates in the mixer or with a shovel. The ingredients are usually added in the following order : 80% of the prepared water, gravel, Ciment Fondu®, sand, adding the balance of the water to obtain a plastic consistency.
CASTING
For the best performance, the concrete should be compacted by rodding or vibration.
DEMOULDING
Should be done as soon as possible (normally 4-5 hours after casting for non load-bearing structures).
CURING Due to the rapid evolution of heat during hardening, Ciment Fondu® based concrete and mortars must be kept damp immediately after setting and during the first 24 hours by regular spraying of water, use of wet sacking or a curing compound.
