Alag®

Alag® is a synthetic aggregate of the same physical-chemical nature as Ciment Fondu®. It is a very hard aggregate with a high density.

Concretes based on Ciment Fondu® and Alag® aggregates provide remarkable resistance to:

• thermal shock -180 °C to + 1100°C
• impact
• abrasion
• corrosion (down to pH of 3.5)

• Foundry Floors and Metallurgical Works
• Fire Training Areas / Fire Protection
• Cryogenic Floors
• Industrial Floors
• Hydraulic structures – spillways, sluice gates

Directions for use

PREPARATION
In order to produce dense durable concrete all formwork should be watertight, clean and coated with mould oil. To provide a good key for bonding, the base concrete should be free of laitance and pre-soaked with water.

MIXING
Order of introduction to a mixer:
90% of water(*), 1 bag Alag® Coarse, 1 bag Ciment Fondu® , 2 bags Alag® Fine, 1 bag Alag® Coarse, and the remainder of water.

WORKING TIME
The concrete should be placed as soon as possible after mixing. Working times up to 1 hour are possible but may require additional compaction.

PLACING
The concrete should be compacted by vibration or rodding.

CURING
Due to the rapid evolution of heat during hardening, Alag concretes & mortars must be cured imediately after setting has occured. E.g. spraying with water, ponding , or polythene/membrane cover.

Ciment Fondu® concrete may be batched and delivered ready mixed.
